1. Each group presentation will be 50 minutes in length.
2. The frame used to structure the presentation will be didactic. You goal is to educate, not to entertain. By didactic I mean the dominant frame will be lecture AND DISCUSSION with appropriate flash and sizzle. Groups are not to frame their presentation using organizing schemes such as the talk show, the game show, the television show take-off, the movie frame, the coffee-house reading hour frame, and so forth. One of the most ridiculous presentations I ever saw was a group that was supposed to present a didactic presentation on Marshall McLuhan and used Who Wants to be Millionaire as an organizing scheme.
3. There should be an opportunity for study group-audience dialogue
during and after
the
presentation. It expected that project teams are responsible for engaging the audience
in
discussion through effective question-asking.
4. All group members will participate in the presentation.
5. Each presentation will contain an
introduction which gains attention, establishing relevance,
establishes a relationship with the audience, building
context/orients, and contains a thesis
sentence which point directly to the main point
discussed in the essay.
6. Each presentation will contain an conclusion
which summarizes the three key ideas,
emotionalizes, personalizes and finalizes.
7. Each presentation will contain a video clip of an interview with an authority on
the subject from
academics.
8. Each presentation will integrate at least one film ,television clips, or instructional video clip.
9. Note cards will not be allowed. If any member in the group reads, the entire group
will fail. You
must use the PowerPoint slides to cue your ideas.
10. Putting your full content
outline or essay on PowerPoint
slides and reading from it will result
in
a significant penalty for the offending group member.
11. All group members should be prepared to answers questions about ANY part of
the
presentation. In 2zero7 there is no such thing as "MY PART".
12. Does Our Hypertext Outline and Presentation Have To Be On A
Particular Topic? Yes.
Each group should choose their topic for the semester
project from this list.
