I reside in Bloomington-Normal,IL. about 125 miles south of Chicago. I teach in the Communication department at Bradley University. Bradley is a medium-sized private university located in Peoria, IL. I received my B.S. and M.S. in communication from Illinois State University and my Ph.D. in communication from the University of Illinois. I team course in small group and organizational communication and online course which focus on understanding the and function of communication in computer-mediated environments e.g. "Advertising in Computer-mediated Environments," "Computer-mediated Communication", and "Virtual Teams, Communication and Collaboration." I have been teaching courses online since 1996. These course are offers during J-term, M-term, and during Summer Sessions.
My wife Tracy runs works as a project manager for Keane Inc. Her core compentencies are instructional design, project management, customized software instruction and communication training and development. . My stepson Jacob is your basic sophmre in high school who likes the Green Bay Packers, X-Box, his I-Pod "hanging out". and despite being inundated with electronic media he actually enjoys reading, particularly fantasy. He was the first freshman in his high school's history to make the Jazz band, and despite having realizing the importance of getting a college education, he still needs to work to get his grades up if he does not want to be riding a bike to the Prom. :). Mya, is a three year old Great Dane, who is pretty much the "pampered princess" in the house.
My twin brother Bruce (left) teaches middle school Math and Social Studies in Atlanta, GA. My younger brother John (right) teaches middle-school Language Arts in Bloomington-Normal. My mother taught 2nd grade for 17 years and my father was Business Manager at Illinois Wesleyan University for 33 years. My father tied in 1986, and my mother reside in St Petesburg Beach Florida.
I like the Bears, beating the spread on NFL football, and watching University of Illinois and Duke basketball. My current "beach reading list" includes Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman, and The Social Life Of Information by Brown and Duguid, and When Pride Still Mattered by Maraniss, a biography of Vince Lombardi). If I could have lunch with anyone living or dead it would probably be Mark Twain, Henry Kissinger, or Robin Williams. If I could move anywhere in the world tomorrow to live out the rest of my days it would be between Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay on St. Johns, in the American Virgin Islands (Even in St. John's, you could take a online course from Bradley University.
Cheers
Chris
