Communication Training & Development
Possibly the most important innovation of the last century, computer-mediated communication has revolutionized the way we communicate. It is for this reason that the convergence of computing and telecommunications has been described as "the pencil that is rewriting the history of world." The potential influence of computer-mediated communication is transforming what it means to be a liberally educated person. In the case of education this transformation creates a need for "information literacy." In order to be liberally educated students need to not only be able to use information and information technology effectively and adapt to their constant changes, but also to think critically about the relationship between information technology, communication, and social-cultural change. Just as a diamond is multi-faceted, so to is the task of enhancing "information literacy". The Diamond Project represents the efforts of students and faculty at Bradley University to understand the nature and function of communication in a computer-mediated world.
